Jupiter: Larger Than Life

Jupiter is a gas giant unlike any other. Its giant size, multiple moons, and high speeds set it apart as a truly incredible planet.

Jupiter's size is undeniably impressive. However, it isn't just confined to the planet itself. It also puts things into perspective elsewhere: for as large as Jupiter is, you could easily fit it in between Earth and our Moon! Aren't cosmic distances wild?

Nevertheless, its size doesn't slow it down. Jupiter rotates incredibly quickly. One day on the planet lasts only 9.5 hours!

Another fascinating part of Jupiter is its sheer number of moons. Earth makes do with just our one, but Jupiter boasts 60. Some are tiny asteroids, while others are nearly as large as Earth, making for a truly spectacular-looking orbit.

It's what's on the inside that counts

As a gas giant, Jupiter also has an incredibly dense atmosphere. It's so intense, in fact, that it changed the hydrogen around it into

hydrogen. This means that Jupiter has a semi-metal core, a strong anchor that complicates its massive size.
